The ALBA VISSA wine has been produced from fully ripe Assyrtiko grapes from our 15 y.o, family owned single vineyard named “palaiokastra”(means the old castle) – \u201cVissa\u201d at the time of Homer. <\/p>\n
The ungrafted low yielding vines of Assyrtiko are growing in low fertility limestony – clay soils with almost 30% active Ca+2. <\/p>\n
The 2011 growing season may be described as a cold winter (provided plenty of rainfall deposit water), a cool to cold healthy spring and a warm summer one without heat picks. <\/p>\n
All these annual elements led to a prolonged rippening period and resulted in concentrated fruit that was vinified in temperature controled stainless steel tanks. <\/p>\n
No oak, no malo treatments during an 12 months fine lees stirring under a vortex regime. <\/p>\n
